Based in Anacortes, Christopher Dyel leads a vibrant music career as an educator, arranger, consultant and performer. As an educator, he has eleven years experience as a public school band director and has been teaching private instrumental lessons for over twenty years. His students perform at an exceptional level as shown in 2024, when his band program boasted the most students in Washington accepted into WMEA All-Sate (at 33), in addition to eight first place regional wins at Solo and Ensemble, and a gold medal winner at state.
As an arranger, he has created and performed several classical works for winds by R. Strauss, Mahler, Dvorak, Mozart; and also medleys for orchestra from the video game franchises Final Fantasy, The Legend of Zelda and Chrono Trigger.
As a performer on woodwinds and conducting, he is accomplished in classical, jazz, musical theater and popular music. He was twice selected as the Outstanding Graduate Student in Music at Austin Peay State University (2016 & 2017) and also won their Symphony’s Concerto Competition in 2017 on soprano saxophone.
Mr. Dyel holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of South Florida (2010) and a Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from Austin Peay State University (2017).
